The Kotb laboratory takes a holistic, systems approach to understanding, preventing, and treating human diseases. We are especially interested in developing genetic models for the complex host-pathogen interface.  

We are also engaged in research to develop therapeutics that selectively diminish the growth of cancer cells without harming normal nonmalignant cells.  To this end we have generated pRNA nanoparticles carrying gene silencing constructs, and decorated them with aptamers directed to specific receptors on the surface of target cancer cells.
